2016

ISLB Founded

🏛️ ISLB was founded in Granada, Spain, establishing an international society focused on advancing liquid biopsy research, education and clinical translation.

2018–2020

Membership & Education Expansion

🌎 ISLB expanded its membership and educational programs, with annual congresses beginning and the society establishing itself as a global reference point for liquid biopsy.

2019

1st Annual Congress • Chicago, USA

🗓️ The first ISLB Annual Congress was held in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

2020

Scientific Partnerships & Global Engagement

📚 Critical Reviews in Oncology/Hematology partnership launched.

🌎 ISLB contributed to advancing international dialogue through major oncology and molecular diagnostics meetings, including ASCO, AACR and AMP.

2021–Present

Global Collaboration & Standardization

🤝 ISLB strengthened collaboration through partnerships and standardization initiatives, including BloodPAC and international liquid biopsy working groups.

2023

Major Scientific Milestones

📚 Journal of Liquid Biopsy launched.

🎓 First ISLB Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Precision Medicine Course launched.

🤝 ISLB joined the International Liquid Biopsy Standardization Alliance (ILSA) as a founding member under the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH).

2024

Community Growth & Education Expansion

📈 ISLB membership reached 400.

🎓 ISLB expanded global education through annual liquid biopsy workshops, including the ISLB workshop in Egypt.

2025

Advancing Clinical Translation

📈 ISLB membership reached 500.

🧬 ISLB led the first international expert consensus on the clinical integration of circulating tumor cells (CTCs).

🎓 ISLB Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Precision Medicine Course held in India.

⚙️ ISLB established consensus-based minimal quality standards for clinical ctDNA testing in solid tumors.

🎓 ISLB CAS Course held in Japan.

🚀 Launch of ISLB Innovation and Investigator Grants.

🤝 ISLB advanced strategic partnerships with leading organizations, including AMP, BloodPAC and other global stakeholders.

2026

🎓 CAS Course held in the United States for community oncologists.

🌎 ISLB participates in EU project SPARC: Support of Personalized Medicine Approaches in Cancer.

🤝 IASLC–ISLB Consensus initiative in progress.

📚 ISLB Society monthly newsletter launched.

🏆 Journal of Liquid Biopsy received its first Journal Impact Factor of 5.0 (Q2 Oncology), reflecting the growing impact of liquid biopsy research worldwide.
